Leona Mae Boyer, 95, formerly of Muhlenberg Township, died April 4, 2021 at ManorCare Health Services, Muhlenberg Township.

She was the widow of Henry D. "Gum" Boyer, who died in 1978.

Born, March 12, 1926, in Muhlenberg Township, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Eva (Gehris) Schmeck.

Leona was a former member of Alsace Reformed United Church of Christ, Muhlenberg Township.

She loved to garden and was an animal lover.

Leona and her companion, Lester, enjoyed frequenting the local farmer’s markets as well.

Surviving are her her two sisters: Hilda Jean Schmeck of Muhlenberg Township, and Sylvia, wife of Darlington Krott of Muhlenberg Township.

Leona was preceded in death by five siblings: Ethel J. (Schmeck) Fick, Jane E. (Schmeck) Geibel, Roy Schmeck, Jennie Schmeck, and Bernard A. “Bernie” Schmeck; and by her long-time companion, Lester L. Hinnershitz.

Services will be held Friday, April 9th, at 10 a.m. at Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale.  A viewing will be held from 9-10 a.m.  Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
