Mrs. Lily Christine Geddes Washburn passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017. She was born January 13, 1919 in Fountain Green, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wm. Brady Washburn, and her parents, Arthur and Clara (Sibert)Geddes. She had lived in North Kingstown since 1964. She was a graduate of Gem City Business College, Quincy, Illinois. Mrs. Washburn was a secretary at the U.S. Navy Department of Ships, Washington, D.C. before and during World War II. She later worked at the U.S. Naval Air Station Supply Department, Quonset Point, RI, and retired from the U.S. Naval War College, Newport, RI as a Library Technician. Mrs. Washburn was a Past Worthy Matron of Martha Chapter 25 and Eureka Chapter 19, Order of the Eastern Star, North Kingstown. She was a member of the North Kingstown Methodist Church, Past President of the North Kingstown Woman's Club, a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, a member of the South County Museum, and had been a Board Member of the North Kingstown Senior Association. Additionally, Mrs. Washburn was a volunteer for Friends in Service (FISH) of North Kingstown. She is survived by 4 children: Eleanor Howell (Dale) of Falmouth, Maine; Carol Ann Hogan (Walton) of Weddington, NC; Robert B. Washburn; and Laura Cameron (Michael) of Rutland, Vermont. She also has eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild. Her Burial will be held in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
