Obituary

Matthew Allen Woodard, better known as Matt, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at UMSMC at Dorchester.  He was born on December 24, 1979 in Wilmington, DE.

Matt was an amazing tattoo artist.  He owned and operated his own tattoo shop, named Liquid Memories, and it has been said that a majority of this community has a Matt Woodard original on their skin.  More than anything, Matt fervently loved his family.  He would have done anything and everything for them.  Matt was a big teddy bear, though, and everyone who met him loved him.  He was also very skilled in handy work, including home improvement, roofing, decking, floors, and cabinets.  Matt's greatest achievements in life were his sobriety and the ability to care for his daughter K'lyn.

Matt is survived by his love Whitney Sussex and her daughter Lilly, both of Cambridge; his mother Kim Patchett and brother Justin Patchett both of Baltimore; his grandmother Cynthia Woodard of Greensboro; his aunt Stacey Russum and her husband Wesley of Greensboro; his uncle Joshua Woodard and wife Anna Burgess of Secretary; his nephew Jaxx Patchett of Baltimore; his cousins Caleb Russum of upstate New York, Erin Russum of Ridgley, Rachael Russum of Pennsylvania, and Ethan Arquiette of Secretary; as well as 6 second cousins.  Matt is preceded in death by his grandfather Robert Allen Woodard, his daughter K’lyn Downs, his step daughter Addy, and his beloved pit bull Mia.

A joint celebration of Matt and K’lyn’s lives will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 1-3 PM in the parking lot behind Fat Ricky’s Pub and Grill, located at 530 Poplar St, Cambridge, MD 21613.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Go Fund Me account created to help Matt’s family as they heal and recover.  Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
