OSCS Michael D. O'Neill, USN (Retired)
Michael D. O'Neill, 71, of Virginia Beach, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021. He was born July 9, 1949, in Lynn, MA, son of the late Cornelius and Angelina Blais O'Neill. On November 10, 1988, in the Little White Chapel, Las Vegas, he married Dorothy A. Castro O'Neill and she survives. Michael was a 1967 graduate from St. Mary's High in Lynn, MA. After high school, he proudly served our country for 23 years in the US Navy where he retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer (OSCS). After retiring from the Navy, he attended Old Dominion University, receiving his Bachelor of Science w/ Honors in Mathematics. He then taught Math at Windsor High School until retiring in 2015. Michael was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. In addition to his wife, Dorothy, Michael is survived by one son, Daniel O'Neill and his wife Jenifer of Keedysville, MD; two grandchildren, Tyler and Katelin O'Neill, both of Keedysville, MD; one sister, Christine Lightbown and her husband Alan of Georgetown, MA; one brother, Kevin O'Neill of Clifton Heights, PA; one brother-in-law, Pedro Castro of Mesa, AZ; and several nieces and nephews. A private service will be held at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home on Monday, April 5, at 4 p.m. Final resting place will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn, MA.
