Picken Jr., Richard E. Richard E. Picken Jr. age 69, of Orland Park, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. Dearly beloved husband of 39 years to Elizabeth “Betty” Picken (nee Winters). Devoted father of Jennifer (Ray) Doherty, Richard, Kelly (Tim) Sluis and Katie (Tom) Curtis. Proud grandfather of Kyle Sluis. Loving son of the late Richard and Evelyn Picken. Dear brother of Lynette Davila, the late Laurie (Dan) Gall and Robert Picken. Kind uncle and friend to many. Rich was a hard-working family man and had many accomplishments throughout his lifetime. At 19 years old he joined the Army. During his years of service, he advanced quickly and was promoted as a Medical Specialist. He spent a big part of his life working for The Belt Railroad Company of Chicago. During his forty years of employment there, he received many promotions and retired as Assistant Superintendent. Rich enjoyed the simple things in life. During his retirement he spent his time relaxing, gardening, fishing and walking his best friend Dexter. He had many hobbies, but his favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family. Memorial visitation Monday, 3 pm - 8 pm at the Robert J. Sheehy and Sons Funeral Home. 9000 W. 151st Street, Orland Park, IL 60462. Family and friends to gather for Funeral Tuesday, 11:30 a.m. Mass at St Francis of Assisi Parish, 15050 S. Wolf Road, Orland Park, IL 60467. Private Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
