<p>Melvin Wesley Schafer, 76 of Ackley, Iowa passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Grand JiVante Ackley, Iowa. There are no services planned at this time. (Smith) Schafer in Keokuk, Iowa. Melvin was united in marriage to Linda Murch and to this union four children were born: Travis, Julia, Melvin Jr., and baby Schafer. Melvin and Linda were later divorced and Melvin was later united in marriage to Sheila Talkington.</p> <p>Melvin Schafer is survived by his wife: Sheila Schafer of Clarence, Missouri; one son: Travis Hawkinson of Quincy, Illinois; one daughter: Julia Cain of Iowa Falls; one sister: Fran Conger of Macon, Missouri; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Melvin Schafer is preceded in death by his parents; Benjamin and Elizabeth Schafer; one brother: Allen Schafer; one sister: Linda Neeson; two sons: Melvin Wesley Schafer Jr. and baby Schafer.</p>July 8, 1944 - March 31, 202107/08/194403/31/2021
