Charles Donald Gram “I’ve Sailed the seas, Time to leave, These trees, Can you cast me off please” (Robert Heemstra) Passed away peacefully at the Welland County General Hospital on Sunday March 28, 2021 at the age of 89 years. Predeceased by his beloved wife Lisa (nee Badger), his brothers James Gram, Harold (Shirley) Gram, George Gram and Allen Stratford. Don will be missed by his nephews Paul Gram, Rodney (Rod) Gram and Franklin Gram, Mike and Karen Bernatz, Jake and Jordyn, West MacDonald and Lesley Stratford, Lucas and Arwyn. Don will also be in the thoughts and prayers of Lisa’s family. Henry (Sandy) and Alice, niece Lynn and Mary, Nephew Chuck and Karen, nephew Brett and Mindy and Denise, wife of Geoffrey (d. 2015). There are two grand nieces, Emily and Lexi and two grand nephews, Steven and Charlie and Megan and great grandniece Sophia. Special thank you to Halena for her years of dedicated service and friendship with Lisa and Don and Dawn for her kindness. Don loved to sit in his porch and gaze over the Lake that gave him peace, serenity, combined with fond memories while sailing on her with his lifetime friends Harold, Lorraine and the love of his life Lisa, After being Chairman of the Showboat Festival Theatre, Don and the group continued to enjoy attending Showboat together as well as Garrison Theater. Don was an active member in POCOMAR. Don also enjoyed teaching Boating Safety and the Power Squadron Course to the many boating enthusiasts in the Niagara Region. Don was a dedicated educator for over 32 years. Starting in Scotland and ending in the Niagara South Board of Education as a principal. After retiring, Don enjoyed his time owning and operating Crews Quarters at Dockside with his wife Lisa. Together they enjoyed many years of being active members of the Port Colborne Community and the First Lutheran Church. The community will sorely miss them. Arrangement entrusted to DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Overholt Cemetery. Don’s ashes will be placed to rest beside Lisa and together they will be in God’s hands. Memorial donations in memory of Don may be made to the Niagara Community Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Online condolences and guest register available at www.davidsonfuneralhome.com
