Dr. David R Thomason Obituary

David R Thomason DMDDentistOn May 12, 2015, at the age of 62, my sweet husband and loving father of our children went to Heaven where he was greeted by his devoted hound, Dudley.  David was born in Macon, GA, but resided most of his life in Augusta, GA.  He was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Georgia with a BA in Biology.  He went on to graduate from the Medical College of Georgia with a Doctorate in Dentistry.  David and I met during his years in dental school and I quickly fell in love with his sharp intellect, quick wit, and gentle spirit.  We were married soon thereafter and built a home together where he gave me the gift of laughter every single day. David built his dental practice from the ground up and worked hard for every dime he ever made.  He believed in treating his staff and patients as if they were his own family.  This belief was reflected in his morals and work ethic throughout the years and will be carried on in his practice in the years to come.David was incredibly talented and had many interests including music, art, and history.  The Lord gave him a very special gift on this earth, and the gift was in his hands.  Many people are unaware of what a brilliant artist he was, because he rarely spoke of his talents.  He never bragged or boasted; David was the picture of humility.  He also loved music and played guitar beautifully.  His ear for great music is one that he passed to our son, and they share many special memories together listening to their favorite bands. David also loved history and has always been very passionate about the Civil War.  He has read hundreds of books and even participated in many Civil War reenactments throughout the years.David’s greatest accomplishment in life was becoming a father to our three children.  He showed them each and every day the meaning of unconditional love.  He was there for them from boy scouts and swim team, to later years of moving them from college dorms to cross-country.  Through the years as our children grew, one common theme remained, and that was his simple prayer for his children to be happy.  He loved his children no matter what, and if they were happy, that was enough for him.  My children absolutely adore their father, and I am so happy they were blessed with such a great example of love, devotion, humility, selflessness, and humor. To carry on David’s life and legacy are his wife, Karen, three children, Tiffany (Jeff), Lindsey, and Michael, along with his nap buddy and beloved hound, Ralph.  A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 18th, 2015 at 4:00 PM at Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church.  Our family will receive friends in the gathering hall of the church after the service. In lieu of flowers, our family asks that any donations be made to a local animal charity of their choice or to Trinity on the Hill UMC.
