Rev. Edwin Allen Seale, 91, of Deming, New Mexico, peacefully passed away surrounded by family and joined his Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 25, 2021.

Born in Houston, Texas, on May 12, 1929, to David Allen Seale and Mary Glazner Seale. Ed grew up in Teague, Texas, where he graduated high school and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Baylor University. This is where he met the love of his life, Joyce Carolyne Langston., to whom he was married to for 68 years. Ed was called to the ministry and received his Bachelor of Divinity and Master’s in religious education from Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. His passion was sharing the Gospel and telling anyone who crossed his path about God’s love.

He began pastoring in 1947 at Bi-Stone Baptist Church in Mexia, Texas. Ed pastored many churches over the years including North Tempe Baptist Church, South Garland Baptist Church, and Sanger Baptist Church. In 1958, Ed joined the Chaplin Corps of the United States Army as a 1st Lieutenant. He served at Dallas Baptist College, Ouachita Baptist University, and Southwestern Theological Seminary from where he retired in 1992.

After retirement, he was able to enjoy and share some of his favorite hobbies’ like creating stain glass art, wood working, and gardening. He loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, LSU Tigers and Baylor Bears.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; 2 children, Carol Seale Derden (Preston Lynn Derden and Edwin Mark Seale (Becky Bass Seale); 3 siblings, Monty Jo Seale Dunn, Robert David Seale, and Michael Henry Seale; grandchildren, Jonathan Lynn Derden, Carolyn Ann Derden, Alexandra Lee Seale, and Connor Mark Seale; great-grandchildren, Madalyn Michelle Derden and David Lynn Derden; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial graveside service will take place Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at Mountain View Cemetery in Deming, NM. Rev. Mason Davis will officiate.
