Paul Curran South Windsor, Connecticut Obituary

Paul Curran

Paul Curran, 69, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Janet (Durfey) Curran, died peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on May 2, 1944, in Hartford, CT, son of the late Joseph and Marguerite (Sweeney) Curran. Paul was a graduate of East Hartford High School Class of 1962. He went on to serve our country during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Marine Corps. In 1971 he was married to his loving wife Janet and together they settled in South Windsor. Paul worked as a purchasing agent for most of his career, most recently at Automation Controls, until his retirement in 2009. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and UCONN sports fan. He enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, and especially his woodpile. He was a member of the Hartford Elks Lodge #19, Knights of Columbus #3901, and Hose Company No. 3 in East Hartford. Paul had a great sense of humor and could always get a laugh out of people. He truly appreciated the simple things in life. He will be remembered by his family for having the ability to slow down in this fast paced world to "stop and smell the roses". Along with his wife, Janet of over 42 years, he leaves his son, Brian Curran and his wife Dina of Marlborough; his brother, Joseph Curran and his wife Ruth of W. Hartford; and his grandchildren, Penelope and Violet Curran. He was predeceased by his sister, Ann Rita Curran. His family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff at Hartford Hospital CB-2 for their care and support. We will all miss you Paul. Family and friends may gather on Monday, December 30, 2013, 9 a.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. at St Margaret Mary Church in South Windsor. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor. His family will receive friends on Sunday, December 29, 2013, from 2 to 5 p.m., at the funeral home. Paul and I were best friends in grammar school. We really knew how to push the nuns' buttons at St. roses along with our parents'. So sorry for his family's loss.
