Doris (Zinsser) Elmore

Doris (Zinsser) Elmore, 97, of South Windsor, wife of the late Elliott Elmore, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2015 with her family at her side. Born in East Windsor, the daughter of the late Charles and Marion (Cotton) Zinsser, she has lived in South Windsor for over 65 years. She cared for and worked on the family farm in South Windsor for many years. Doris was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She attended the First Congregational Church of South Windsor. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she looked forward to it every year. Doris liked to shop, make crafts, and she made many quilts for her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Cynthia Carpenter and her husband Richard of FL, Dan Elmore and his wife Linda of FL, Judith Luce and her husband Charles of Tolland, Linda Gaskill of FL, Joseph Elmore and his wife Carolyn of South Windsor, and Scott Elmore of FL; 17 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Rouschenbach of Manchester and Barbara Popoff of Vernon, and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Burton, Donald and Roland Zinsser, and two sisters, Evelyn Kizis and Melba Carter. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 12 noon in Center Cemetery, 993 Main Street, South Windsor.
