Robert "Bob" Wesley Dawson
Robert Wesley Dawson, age 89 of Blue Earth, passed into his eternal home Saturday, December 12, 2015 at United Hospital in Blue Earth. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church at 11:00 am on December 16th with visitation the preceding hour. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.com Bob was born on October 19th, 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Esther and Everett Dawson. He attended Central High School in Minneapolis and then joined the service during WWII where he worked as a medic. After the service, Bob attended the University of Minnesota and graduated from the Minnesota School of Business with a degree in Business Administration. Soon after, Bob met his lovely wife Audrey Jean Peterson of Blue Earth. They were married at Salem English Lutheran Church in Minneapolis on October 14, 1950. Bob and Audrey celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year. For 38 years, Bob worked in the insurance industry. He and Audrey settled in Burnsville, Minnesota where they raised three children, Patricia, Barbara, and Scott. In 1995 Bob and Audrey moved to Blue Earth to be close to family and enjoy the slower pace of a small town. Bob loved to golf, speed skate, play bridge, travel, work through the daily cross-word puzzle, and spend quality time with his family and friends. Bob's grandchildren adored their grandpa for his kind and loving spirit, wonderful sense of humor, and propensity for telling jokes. His children could not have asked for a better dad. Bob's faith in Jesus Christ was central to his life and was expressed in his openness to all he came in contact with. He also actively served in various church ministries, as his church home was very important to him. He is survived by his wife, Audrey of Blue Earth; daughter, Patty Waters of Stuart, FL; daughter, Barb Melheim of Nevis, MN; son, Scott Dawson and wife Teri of Laguna Niguel, CA; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Bob's parents, two sisters, one brother, a son-in-law and a grandchild precede him in death.October 19, 1926 - December 12, 201510/19/192612/12/2015
