Alice B. Austin, 83, of Elk Point died on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Wel-Life Assisted Living in Elk Point. Alice was born Aug. 6, 1937 in Yankton County to Fred and Adeline Irwin. She was the sixth of 12 children. She attended Coyote District #21 Country School. She held numerous jobs in her lifetime, including Shearon Bee Farm in Jefferson, Zenith in Sioux City and the Leader-Courier in Elk Point. Alice enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, and sitting on her front porch. She is survived by her son, Rodney (Janiel) of Hot Springs, SD; her daughter, Joann (Robert) GoBell of North Sioux City; three sisters, Ruth Bergstedt, Gladys (Larry) Clark, all of Elk Point, and Marie Onnen of Grand Island, NE; three grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan (Ashley) and Mitchell; a great-grandson, Ryker; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews and great-great-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen, her son, Jerry, three brothers, Sam Irwin, Ralph Irwin and Raymond Irwin; and five sisters, Mary Lou Austin, Bessie Millard, Grace Dyke, Elise Millard and Dorothy Rosenbaum.
