Rose Marie Wickenheiser

Rose Marie Wickenheiser, 87, passed away on June 24, 2017, at Rapid City Regional Hospital after a hard fought battle against cancer. Rose was born October 22, 1929, on the family farm west of Strasburg, North Dakota to Adam & Katherine (Feist) Holzer. She attended a one room school house in rural Winona County, North Dakota. On October 12, 1954, she married Peter M. Wickenheiser at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Strasburg and they made their home in Rapid City. Rose and Pete spent many days camping, fishing, and traveling in their motorhome. They enjoyed square dancing, spending Saturday nights at the Moose Lodge dancing, visiting, and playing cards with family and friends. She loved to bake, crochet, quilt, and make homemade wine. Rose worked at the Black Hills Packing Co. and retired after 28 years. She was a member of St. Therese the Little Flower Catholic Church. Survivors include four sisters, Ramona Heidrich, Lillian Schwahn, Alvina Goldade, and Kathy Masset, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Pete; a sister, Hildegard Holzer; and her brother, Aloysius A. Holzer. Rose wanted to, especially recognize and give a special "Thank You" to Antoinette "Nettie" and Clarence Wagner and to family and friends for all of your help. She loved you all. A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Kirk Funeral Home, Rapid City, South Dakota with a Christian Wake Service and recitation of the Rosary and time of sharing at 7:00 pm. A Christian Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at 11:00 am at St. Therese the Little Flower Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Strasburg, North Dakota on Monday, July 3, 2017. Visitation and sharing will be held at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, ND from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a recitation of the Rosary at 2:00 pm, followed by a graveside service where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
