William E. Harris Obituary

Early Sunday morning, March 21, 2021, God gave William Edward Harris his heavenly wings.

William, affectionately called Willie, was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late James Edward and Eula Harris on October 6, 1971. At an early age, Willie was baptized and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.

He attended Baltimore City public schools and was a graduate of Edmondson Westside Skill Center. Soon after graduation, Willie joined the Mercy Medical Center staff. For a little over 30 years, he worked as a surgical tech. Willie loved his colleagues and would often share his hospital experiences with family and friends, excited about how he was able to be a positive force in the recovery of many patients. Many times, all it took was a warm smile, a soothing touch, and listening ear to make a patient feel better. Willie eagerly performed these acts time and time again. Willie also attended and graduated from the Baltimore School of Massage.

He wasn’t a lover of sports, but he enjoyed major professional wrestling events. You could always find him immersed reading the Marvel Comic Books. He was fascinated with Captain Marvel, his favorite character.

Many people were drawn to Willie because of his quiet demeanor-- yet infectious personality. He loved hanging out with his buddies who frequently referred to him as “Chocolate Cool”. At family functions he could always be spotted showing off the latest dance moves or eating a hearty dish of soul food. An avid supporter of human rights, Willie eagerly participated in demonstrations and marches of cause and in community charitable activities.

Most important, not a day went by that Willie was not involved with children. Great with all kids, he was security for the children’s church at the Bridgeway Community Church. A doting father, Willie spent hours guiding his children, giving his stepdaughters (whom he treated as his own) swimming tips, cheering them on at various school activities during their youth; wrestling with Jordan and enjoying special moments with him at the Texas Roadhouse. Cuddling and blowing “spit” bubbles with baby Amari. Showing patience and giving his children loads of hugs and kisses; protecting them. You know---doing all those things that a dad is supposed to do.

Willie has left us much too soon, but he leaves behind loved ones who will forever cherish his memory. Willie leaves wife- Candice Harris; sons- Jordan and Amari Harris; four step children- De’Andre Morton, Demaris Fisher, Deanna Fisher, and Kelle Fizer; goddaughter- Tianna Meade; two aunts- Magdalene Nock (George) and Annie Lee; a host of cousins and friends, and devoted friend Nicole Diggs.

We were truly blessed to have known and loved William E. “Willie” Harris. To God Be The Glory.
