Larry Dean Plushnik Obituary

Larry Dean Plushnik, age 78, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2015, with family by his side. Larry was born on December 30, 1936, in Newton Twp., MI, to Ernest and Alta May (Schwark)Plushnik. Larry graduated from Marshall High School in 1955, at which time he enlisted and served his country in the United States Army and Army National Guard from 1955 to 1964. Larry retired from Eaton Corporation in 1993, after working 30 years as a Skilled Trades Millwright. Larry was also a full time farmer at his family's Centennial farm while employed full time at Eaton Corporation. Larry married Margaret Dianne Parker in 1959 and they were married for 14 years. On Febrary 22, 1975, Larry married Sara Jane McKenney. They were married for 40 years at the time of Larry's death. In addition to his loving wife Sara, Larry is survived by his siblings, Robert (Mary Jean) Plushnik; Berniece (Fred) Parker; Nina (Lee) Halder; Joanne (Dennis) Casey; Helen (Don) Askew; his children, Cindy (David) Wieas; Bill (Lori) Plushnik; Ronda (Gary) Collyer; Don Dickerson; Susan (Steve) Doneth; and Bart (Jenee') Dickerson. Larry is also survived by 3 grandsons, 11 granddaughters, 5 great grandsons, and 4 great granddaughters. As a young man, Larry enjoyed building and racing stock cars with his brother Robert Plushnik. He also loved farming, gardening, woodworking, rebuilding machinery and inventing. In his later years he loved NASCAR and watching Westerns of any kind. Time to visit with the family will be held at Kempf Family Funeral Homes, Marshall Chapel, 723 Old US-27 North, Marshall, MI on Monday, December 14, 2015, at 10AM, with a Memorial Service to begin at 11AM. The family requests that you remember Larry with memorials to either Eaton Community Hospice and Palliative Care located at 2675 Cochran Ave., Charlotte, MI 48813.
