Thelene Joy Holland

Thelene Joy Wilson Holland, 88, of Kenova, WV passed away Monday, March 22, 2021 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne by Pastor Richard Maynard. Burial will follow in the Wilson Family Cemetery, Genoa, WV. She was born September 8, 1932 at Genoa, a daughter of the late Dee and Irene Thompson Wilson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Holland, Sr., two sisters, Jan Ball and Tampa Wilson, two brothers, Thelmar Wilson and Charles Wilson. Thelene is survived by three sons, Sherman “Nick” Holland, Jr. and wife Peggy of Fort Gay, WV, Richard T. Holland of Prichard, WV and Terry M. Holland and wife Melissa of Branchland, WV; five sisters, Eloise Bailey of Fort Meyers, FL, Glenna Workman (Frank) of Kenova, Alta Carol Smith of Lavalette, WV, Betsy Wilson of Fort Meyers, and Patsy Gray (John) of Proctorville, OH; two brothers, John D. Wilson (Sue) of Belfast, NY and Willie Wilson of Grayson, KY; she was lovingly known as Mamaw G.G. by her seven grandchildren, Mick Holland, Matt Holland, Ricky Holland, Joy Holland, Paul Holland, Sue Ann Bailey, and Robbie Porter; along with twenty-two great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. A special thank you to Morgan Holland, Mattie Holland, Martina Holland and Melissa Holland who cared for Thelene over the last month. Visitation will be held 6 to 9 Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne. Due to COVID-19 facemasks and social distancing will be required.
