Mr. Robert Ray Luster, Sr. Obituary

ROBERT RAY (BUTCH) LUSTER, SR., was born in St. Louis County, Missouri on January 29, 1949, to Robert Jack (RJ) and Mary Alice Luster. Everyone called him Butch. 

Robert (Butch) was educated in the University City School District and married his high school sweetheart, Janie. After graduating high school, he enlisted with the United States Marine Corp. He fought in the Vietnam War and earned many medals and honors, including the Purple Heart. After returning home from Vietnam, he made a life for his family. 

He was a man of many talents. Robert was patient and kind. He worked in construction, was an avid tennis player and tennis coach, coached little league, loved fishing, and was great at home improvement and property management. Robert was an outstanding athlete and a member of the University City Tennis Club. He loved spending time with his family, grilling, and drinking his Grand Marnier. He will be remembered for his incredible fishing skills. 

Robert (Butch) was greeted in the next life by his parents, RJ and Mary Alice, the absolute love of his life, Janie, his sister, Lodie, his son, Robert Ray, his grandson, Demetrius, his nephew, Toney, his Aunt Vernie, Uncle Walter, Uncle Tate and other family and friends on Sunday, March 21, 2021. 

Robert (Butch) leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Robert Griffin, Alphonse (Kimberly) Luster and Brandon James (Aisha) Luster; eight grandchildren, Precious, Kysa, Robert, III, Alphonse Luster, Jr., Allisha, Keith, Taylor and Trevion; five great grandchildren, one brother, Freddie (Karen) Luster; two sisters, Dorothy (Oscar) Weston and Brenda (Ron) Allen; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
