Blaine N. Shetley

Blaine N. Shetley, age 74, of Sullivan, MO, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, Sunday, March 21, 2021. Blaine Neal was born in Ironton, MO, January 29, 1947, to Newlyn and Thelma Mae (Owens) Shetley, the second of four children. Blaine graduated from Sullivan High School, Class of 1965. He honorably served his country in the United States Army from April 1, 1966 to March 4, 1969. Blaine was united in marriage to Julie Schmidt on January 2, 1970 and they were blessed with two sons, Blaine, Jr. and David. Blaine and Julie had just celebrated 51 years of marriage together this past January. Through the years, Blaine was employed by Meramec Mining Company, Associated Crafts (for 17 years) and the Carpenters Union Local #2298 of Rolla (from 1985 until he retired in 2009). Blaine played Triple-A Baseball, and was an awesome pitcher. He was also able to coach his own sons when they played baseball. First and foremost, Blaine was a family man who adored his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting with his children and grandchildren and always supported them in their many sporting events, which included baseball, basketball and wrestling. He was a good man, loved by many and will be forever missed by his family. Blaine is survived by his wife, Julie (Schmidt) Shetley, of Sullivan, MO; two sons, Blaine N. Shetley, Jr. and wife, Michelle, and David Shetley and wife, Dana, all of Bourbon, MO; seven grandchildren: Brittany Harmon and husband, Thomas, of Leasburg, MO, Bradley Henson and wife, Natalie, of Bourbon, MO, Clare Shetley, Mallory Shetley, Cora Shetley, Evan Shetley and Ty Shetley, all of Bourbon, MO; five great-grandchildren: Blake Harmon, William Henson, Dakota Harmon, Emily Harmon and Morgan Harmon; two sisters, Jean Montgomery and husband, Bill, of Sullivan, MO, and Nancy Moss of Bourbon, MO; sister-in-law, Audrey Shetley, of Sullivan, MO; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Newlyn “Bull” and Thelma Shetley; one brother, Bruce Shetley; father and mother-in-law, Tracy and Vivian (Hill) Schmidt; brothers-in-law, Edwin Schmidt and Don Moss; and one sister-in-law, Christine Nutting. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, with Pastor Rob Cardwell officiating. Interment will follow in Argo Cemetery, with full military honors. Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 24, 2021 and from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 25, 2021, all at the Eaton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions in memory of Blaine may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
