Lyle Robert “Butch” Droppers of Sturgis, SD was born to Lyle and Betty (VanCleave) Droppers on December 18, 1953 in Deadwood, SD. He grew up in Miller, SD and after graduating high school, he joined the Navy. Butch married Dellete Wild and together they had three children, Dion, Misty, and DJ. He lived and worked in Huron, SD before moving to Belle Fourche, SD. He then worked in Colony, WY for over 20 years, eventually working as a supervisor prior to leaving. After leaving Halliburton, he worked at Walmart and Buckle Tree. Butch married Linda (Gerig) Harwood on September 28, 2002. This union added Brenda (Anderson) Chavez and Amanda (Harwood) Maag. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved fishing and hunting. Lyle Droppers, 67, entered his final rest on March 15, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Linda; five children, Dion (Madia) Doppers of Aberdeen, SD, Misty Droppers of Rapid City, SD, DJ Droppers of Spearfish, SD, Brenda Chavez of Sturgis, SD, and Amanda (Justin) Maag of Sturgis, SD; one brother, Monte Droppers; four sisters, Lila (Larry) Wallace, Sandi Hayes, Arlene (Bill) Brown, and Luetta (Richard) Staley; and by many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, whom he enjoyed and loved. He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Droppers; his mother, Betty (VanCleave) Droppers; brother-in-law, Danny Hayes; and brother-in-law, Raymond Keith Gerig. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 29, 2021 at Believers Fellowship Church in Sturgis, SD. A family interment with military honors will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.
