David Glenn Cox, 74, of Westfield, passed away at his residence after a lengthy illness on March 17, 2021.  Born June 25, 1946, he was the son of Luke Garrett and Elsie Jones Cox.  He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 52 years, Patricia Paulin Cox; his mother, Elsie Jones Cox Overton; a son and daughter-in-law, David Alexander (Layla) Cox; a daughter and son-in-law, Anne Marie Cox (Chris) Dawson; two grandchildren, Emileigh Groh and Hanna Groh. Born in the south, he was raised a gentleman and carried those qualities throughout his life.  He loved his country and served in the US Navy and was a Vietnam veteran.  After his service to his country, he came home, raised his family and ran a successful printing business, finishing books for publishers.  He instilled the same qualities of consideration, hard work, determination and self-sufficiency into his children.  David enjoyed spending time with his family in the home he built for them and also camping in the mountains.   Tinkering and fixing things were hobbies.  While tinkering, he enjoyed listening to 50’s music. A man of many experiences, great wisdom and enormous love for his family will be deeply missed.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice at 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
