<p>Fonnie Berlene (Southerland) Skillman, 91, passed away on 14 March 2021.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Fonnie was born to George Southerland and Dora (Williams) Southerland on the 16th of December, 1929 in Mt. Olive, NC and was the eldest of five&nbsp;children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, retired Air Force Major William Chase Skillman as well as brother George L. (G.L.) Southerland and sister Josephine Southerland.</p> <p>She is survived by her daughter, Linda R. (Skillman) Proulx, and son, George H. Skillman; sisters, Sue (Ron) Kleim and Annie Virginia (Clifford) Graham and sister-in-law Ettrice Southerland.</p> <p>Fonnie was a devoted Air Force wife and traveled with her husband to his various stateside assignment locations and an international assignment in Spain.&nbsp; With her creativity and artistic flair, she had a way of making each house feel like a home for the family.&nbsp;</p> <p>Fonnie lived independently at Riderwood Village in Silver Spring, Maryland&nbsp;until her passing and enjoyed the community, activities, hobbies, and many friends.</p> <p>Her hobbies included floral arrangement, painting, and gardening.&nbsp;</p> <p>She loved and enjoyed spending time with her family and will be greatly missed.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Black Mountain Home, 80 Lake Eden Road, Black Mountain, North Carolina 28711; www.BlackMountainHome.org&nbsp;or to a charity of your choice.</p>

Fonnie Berlene (Southerland) Skillman, 91, passed away on 14 March 2021.

 

Fonnie was born to George Southerland and Dora (Williams) Southerland on the 16th of December, 1929 in Mt. Olive, NC and was the eldest of five children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, retired Air Force Major William Chase Skillman as well as brother George L. (G.L.) Southerland and sister Josephine Southerland.
