John D. Patton, 45 of Waterloo, Illinois passed away on Monday March 15, 2021. John was born on November 6, 1975 in Belleville, Illinois to Melvin and Candace Patton, nee Wilson and they precede him in death. John was also preceded in death by his brother, Deron Patton. John worked as a roofer and was formerly a police officer for the Okawville, Illinois Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Department and the Washington Park, Illinois Police Department. John enjoyed spending time outdoors with his friends and family. He was a devoted husband and father and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Michelle Patton of Waterloo, Illinois; his children, Beau and Berlyn Patton of New Athens, Illinois and Alexis Killy and Gracie Fohne of Waterloo, Illinois. His sister, Kim (Tedd) Bacott of Columbia, Illinois, his uncle, Craig (Kim) Wilson of Greenville, Illinois, aunt Debbie (Louie) Janik of Columbia, Illinois, aunt Denise (Ritch) Keller of Columbia, Illinois, uncle Larry (Diane) Patton of Belleville, Illinois and aunt Lynn (Craig) Arney of Nashville, Illinois. His nieces and nephews: Brittni (fiancé Keith) Brower, Ryan (Ashley) Albers, Caitlin (Ryan) Bromberger, Ashley, JT, Emma and Kaitlyn. His great-nieces and newphews, Jayce, Aiden, Ellie Mae, Hank and Ada. The family is planning a celebration of John’s life for a later date.
