John (Chuck) J. Chacko, Jr.
John (Chuck) Chacko, Jr., age 70, a lifelong resident of Pittston, died Sunday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Maryann Yesaltis Chacko, on October 16, 2016. Born on August 26, 1946, son of the late John, Sr., and Matilda Sagliocca (Salio) Chacko, John was a graduate of Pittston High School, Class of 1964. After studying history at Kings College, he joined the Army National Guard, proudly serving his country. He was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Duryea. A tremendous sports fan, he never missed one of his daughter's or grandchildren's sporting events, always showing his support. Caring and selfless, John had a 'heart of gold'. He was a loyal friend and a dedicated family man who would do anything for anyone in need. Although his journey here concluded on Sunday, his new journey now begins as he's reunited with his beloved wife, family and friends. He will be forever missed. He is survived by his loved ones, daughter Maria Chacko, sister Barbara DeLeo and husband Frank; and brother Ronald Chacko, all of Pittston; four grandchildren, John Thomas, Anthony, Jaydin and Gianna; a brother-in-law, Jerry Salitis and wife Anita of Duryea; nieces and nephews; and three uncles. His family wishes to thank the entire staff of W.B. General Hospital's 7th floor Post Acute Care for the amazing care given to John throughout his stay. Blessing services are scheduled for Saturday at noon in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Interment with military rites by the AMVETS Honor Guard will follow in the West Pittston Cemetery. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday from 10:00AM until services.
