CRAIG R. DOWNEY Craig R. Downey, 61, a longtime resident of the Forest Grove community, died Monday morning, March 15, 2021, at his home. Private Cremation Rites were held at the Hoyt Crematory in Forest Grove. CRAIG RAY DOWNEY was born May 19, 1959 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Donald Downey and the late Barbara (Kapple) Downey. He was raised and received his education in Tulsa, Oklahoma, having been a graduate of Sand Springs High School class of 1977. Upon his high school graduation, Craig attended Oklahoma State then went on to electrical trade school. He was united in marriage to Norma Jean Gillette on May 14, 1987 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. They celebrated their 33rd Wedding Anniversary this past May. Following their marriage, they made their home in the Sand Springs community, until August of 1989, when they moved to Oregon, settling in the Forest Grove community, where they have resided since. Craig had worked as an electrician in the commercial construction industry for Christensen Electric Company in Portland for thirty years, until ill health forced him to retire. He was a member of (IBEW) International Brotherhood of Electrical Union Local 48 in Portland. Among his special interests, Craig enjoyed the outdoors, camping, crabbing, fishing and watching movies. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Craig was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Downey. Survivors include his wife, Norma Downey, of the family home in Forest Grove, Oregon; his father, Donald Downey, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; his daughter, Wendy Baldwin, of Forest Grove, Oregon; his son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Amanda Baldwin, of Portland, Oregon and his two brothers, Randall Downey and Steve Downey, both of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Also surviving are his two granddaughters, Jessica Skufca-Baldwin, of Forest Grove, Oregon and Makaila Baldwin, of Portland, Oregon. The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the American Cancer Society, Oregon Chapter, 330 S.W. Curry Street, Portland Oregon 97239, in his memory.
