Dr. Paul Michael Sullivan Obituary

PAUL MICHAEL SULLIVAN – LOVING HUSBAND, FATHER, GRANDFATHER AND FRIEND. PAUL MICHAEL SULLIVAN cherished family, was devoted to medicine and life-long learning, and lived his life guided by his faith and the Hippocratic Oath. He strived to be a good man and his heart was most content when he was in the service of others. He was adventurous and saw much of the world via the Nomads with his wife, Phyllis Sullivan, and best friends. He was a simple man who preferred to spend time working in the woods, playing poker with his friends on Friday nights, taking annual fishing trips, or listening to Arturo Toscanini’s interpretation of Beethoven’s 9th. His life was full of laughter, and outside of a good quad espresso and pipe, he loved playing tricks on others. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family alongside his loving wife Phyllis (LaPrese) Sullivan of 63 years who together raised eight children. He is survived by; Patrick and Annie Sullivan from North Carolina, Maura and Chris Davies from Colorado, Katie and Brad Bishop from Arizona, Michael and Laura Sullivan from North Carolina, Paul and Judy Sullivan from Michigan, Brian and Beth Sullivan from Arizona, Molly Sullivan from Michigan, and Matthew and Molly Sullivan from Michigan, along with 15 grandchildren who he dearly loved; Colin, Cabriel, Laura, Megan, Gemma, Kelli, Alaina, Callah, Jake, Matthew, Noah, Nick, Brennan, Matthew, and Joe. Paul Michael Sullivan was born on January 25, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio to Josephine and Cleveland Sullivan. He graduated from Shrine High School in 1947. He continued his education at The University of Michigan where he received a B.S. in Biology, a Masters in Zoology, and his M.D. in 1959. He served in the army during the Korean War (1953-1955). Upon graduation from Medical School, he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at St. Josephs Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. He practiced there for 52 years, retiring at the age of 84. Funeral Mass Friday, March 19, 2021, 11am at St. Regis Catholic Church, 3695 Lincoln Rd., Bloomfield Hills. The Mass will also be livestreamed and can be viewed on St. Regis' website or by clicking this link: Sullivan Funeral Mass. Memorial tributes to Right to Life - Lifespan or Angela Hospice. ~Lovingly written by the family.
