Kenneth M. Hazard Obituary

Kenneth M. “Kenny” Hazard, 87, of Hopedale, died March 11, 2021, at his home. He leaves a daughter, Glenda Hazard, and her husband, Joseph Fitzgerald, of Hopedale; a sister, Shirley Hutchinson, of Whitinsville; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Myrna (Duffy) Hazard. One of 10 children of the late Richard Sr. and Anna O’Donnell Hazard, he was also predeceased by a sister, Priscilla Guido; and seven brothers, Richard, Robert, Lyman, Harold, William, Donald and Russell Hazard. Kenny grew up in Mendon and was a long-time employee of the Draper Corporation. He also worked at Rosenfeld Concrete before retiring from Tresca Brothers Concrete in Millis. He was also a U.S. Army veteran. Kenny enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball and football, and looked forward to Saturday night card games with his daughter and son-in-law, which he nearly always won. He also enjoyed tinkering with small engines and would often bring an ailing lawnmower or snowblower left on the side of the road miraculously back to life. Kenny was especially known for his kind and generous heart and his willingness to help others whether he had known them for a lifetime or just a day. He was also a full-time caregiver to several family members over the years, but the suddenness of his illness did not allow that debt to be fully repaid. A visiting hour will be held Wednesday, March 17, 2021 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., Milford. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery. Facial coverings and social distancing required. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer research, 415 Crossways Park Drive, Suite D, Woodbury, NY 11797; or Milford Humane Society, 289 West St., Milford, MA 01757.
