Harold Middleton

Harold William Middleton, 83, of Hedrick, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 4:25 p.m. March 10, 2021 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. He was born November 4, 1937 in Ottumwa to George William and Marcielle Simmons Middleton. He married Sadonna Carruthers December 30, 1957. A graduate of Ottumwa High School, Harold worked for Lowenberg Bakery for 27 years and for Ottumwa High School in maintenance for 12 years. He enjoyed classic cars, NASCAR and the Green Bay Packers. Harold loved his family, especially his grandkids. Surviving is his wife, Sadonna; their daughters, Sherri Lea Thompson, Leona Mae Evans and Stephene Anne Wright (Ron Brubaker) all of Sigourney; 8 grandchildren, Brandon Thompson, Kelli Mayall, Blake Evans, Spencer Wright, Brett Wright, Ben Brubaker, Daniel Brubaker and Travis Brubaker; and his best friend, Tom Michael. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Rhonda Lynn Middleton; a son, William Alan Middleton; a brother, Ron Middleton; and a sister, Anne Francis “Fran” Middleton. Open visitation will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, March 14th at Reece Funeral Home. The family will be present to greet friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Public funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 15th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. For those unable to attend, you may watch the service live on the Reece Funeral Facebook page. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
