Mildred Agnes Davis Obituary

Mildred Agnes Davis nee Halbert of St. Louis, MO was born on Tuesday, March 31, 1936 at home in Cherryville, MO to Thurston Halbert and Lillie “Nettie” Arnetta Murry Halbert.  She passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Big River Nursing and Rehab in Cedar Hill, MO at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 10 days.

Mildred had accepted the Lord as a young girl at Cherryville Baptist Church. She and her family would listen to the Grand Ole Opry every Saturday.  She graduated from Cherryville High School in 1954.  Mildred married Max Audell Davis of Davisville, MO on December 3, 1955 at the Davisville Assembly of God Church and to this union, four children were born. They moved to St. Louis, MO where she worked outside the home until having children.  As a homemaker, Mildred enjoyed canning, embroidery, sewing where she made most of her and Melanie’s clothes. Baking yummy foods from scratch, Melanie boasts she made the best ever cinnamon rolls, especially on cold winter mornings where the aroma wafting through the house could pull you out of a warm bed. Mildred loved snow and going sledding with her children. She was a volunteer Red Cross nurse for the elementary school when her children were in school. She enjoyed baking for class parties. She loved being a mom. After her children were grown, she started working in a daycare as a cook and also tended to children. After which she went to nursing school and started working in a nursing home and residential home where she spent a lot of hours loving on the residents. Truly, TLC – tender loving care. She also had helped in the church nursery and taught a children’s Sunday School class. Mildred enjoyed decorating for the holidays and reading.  She loved tending to her flowers.  Most of all, she loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thurston and “Nettie” Halbert; husband, Max A. Davis; infant daughter Marilyn A. Davis; infant sister Juanita Halbert; brothers-in-law Louis (Agnes) Davis, Jack “William” (Ina) Davis, Gilbert Davis, Glen (Virginia) Davis, Eugene Davis and infant Lytle Davis; sisters-in-law Hilma (Treff) Adams, JoAnn Crabtree, Hazel (Ray) Gibbs, Nerene (Bruce) McGlasson and son-in-law Gerhard “Jerry” Koch.
