<p>Michaela Gabbard Cox of Sparks, NV. Lost her courageous 11-year battle with multiple myeloma and passed away on February 19, 2021 &ldquo;Mike&rdquo; was a long-time resident of Dobson, N.C. before moving to NV. to live with sister and her husband Ron Bowen.&nbsp; Being from a family that valued education highly, Mike attended Berea College of Berea, Ky., University of Kentucky at Lexington, KY. And Lake Erie College of Painesville, Ohio where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA. Mike was also a multiple award-winning breeder of Abyssinian cats and traveled nationwide to exhibit at cat shows.&nbsp; Mike was preceded in death by husband L.B. Cox, their infant son Bradley, her mother Doris Martin Gabbard of Dobson, N.C.&nbsp; and her brother Gabbard of Sparks, NV.&nbsp; She is survived by her sister Charlene Bowne of Sparks, NC., brother Alex Gabbard of Oak Ridge, TN. &nbsp;And brother Nick Gabbard of Lexington, N.C. No services are planned locally but interment will be at the cemetery at Salem Fork Christian Church where her cremains will be placed along with those of her husband and mother.</p>
