Josephine DeLeo Young, 90, of Norwalk, died on Monday, March 8, 2021 at The Villa in Stamford. Born in Italy, the daughter of the late Francesco and Teresa DeLeo, she was the wife of the late Ernest Young.
She had a playful spirit and loved spending time with her family. An amazing cook that would create delicious meals for anyone that had the pleasure of sitting at her table. Gardening was her passion and she grew a wide variety of vegetables and fruits in her garden - which she would jokingly call her "sandbox". Known for having a "lead foot" while driving, she was a race car driver at heart and proudly displayed her 1st place racing trophy on the living room mantel. She was a comforting soul that was always there for anyone that needed anything.
She was predeceased by her son, Matteo "Dan" Young. Brothers, Natale Francesco DeLeo, Matteo DeLeo, Rocco DeLeo, Carmelo DeLeo, Michele DeLeo and Giuseppe DeLeo.
She is survived by her son, Frank Young, and his wife Lynda. Her sister, Teresa DeGregori and her husband, Ruggero; her grandchildren, Theresa Young Simpson and her husband, Joe; Daniel Young and his wife, Annmarie; Alyssa Young, Julia Young and Ernest Young; and her great-grandchildren, Allison, Tyler, Anna, Cassidy and Stella.
Her family will receive friends on Saturday, March 13, from 10 AM to 12 noon at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk with a Graveside Service at 12:30 PM at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. (Due to Covid restrictions, masks & social distancing required, limited to 25 people in the building at a time)
