Mary Canias Pachinakis Obituary

Mary Canias Pachinakis, ageless, of the 3200 block of Shore Drive, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Sophie Canias; her two sisters, Grace Baker and Alice Canias; and her husband, Paul Pachinakis. Half of Mary's life was spent in Norfolk. During that time she was a past President of the Hellenic Woman's Club and worked as the secretary at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She then moved to Athens where she lived and married for the next 37 years. Her home always welcomed all of her Virginia friends. She is survived by her sister, Joanne Brelias; nephew, Mark Brelias (Carol) of Denver, NC; her four "Boys" were her nephews that she loved unconditionally, Ted, Jr. (Nancy), George (Scottie), Byron, and Paul Baker. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews. A Trisagion service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015 at the Norfolk Chapel of H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Philoptochos Society, c/o Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 7220 Granby St., Norfolk, VA 23505.
