Mr. Douglas Clyde Phillips, age 73, a resident of Montrose Teter Creek Lake Community and more recently a resident of the WV Caring Hospice Center in Elkins, departed this life Saturday March 6, 2021 at the care facility. Death was following a period of declining health.

He was born December 1, 1947 at the Teter Creek Lake Community, a son of the late Osler Brant Edna Johnson Phillips.

He is survived by two children; Barbara Gordon and husband Richard of Buckhannon and Teresa Henderson and husband Terry of Philippi, one grandchild; Tyler Gordon and wife Ashley of Clarksburg. A special thank you to his caregivers; Sherry, Jeannie, Iva, and Josh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister; Joan Crouch and one brother; Junior Phillips. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Douglas attended the schools of Barbour County and was previously employed by Pittston Coal Group. He was a member of the UMWA and attended the Silent Grove Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg St. in Belington on Tuesday March 9, 2021 from 4 to 5 PM the funeral hour where final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Cremation will then follow. Scattering of his cremains will be at a later date. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic face coverings and social distancing are mandatory while paying your respects in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Animal Friends of Barbour County 320 Valley Bend Road Belington, WV 26250.
