Mary Lucy Nichols passed away on December 19, 2015 in Charleston, S.C. Mary Lucy, a native of Norfolk moved at the age of 85 years to Raleigh, NC and later to Charleston, SC to be supported by her family. She was preceded in death by two husbands, three
sisters, her parents and a nephew. Her surviving family includes Linda Sell(Roger), a stepdaughter of PA., Patricia Gray (Ken) her niece of Charleston, SC, three great nieces: Cole Baker-Bagwell(Andrew) of Raleigh, NC, Gia Jones of Durham, NC, Brooke Allen (Bryan) of
Knoxville, TN, Donna Connor, Chuck Hobbs, Gail Hobbs (nieces and Nephew) and a host of beautiful grandchildren.
Mary Lucy is remembered fondly as the manager of the Tea Room at Smith & Weltons in Norfolk. The menu was based on her recipes and were considered to be outstanding. She loved entertaining, reading, golf, friends and family. She inspired the women in the family
to become excellent cooks and they feel her presence today with each recipe that she passed on to them..
Interment at Forest Lawn Cementry in Norfolk, Va will occur at 11:00 am on February 20, 2016, next to the burial site of her beloved husband, Floy Edward Nichols. A fitting return for her to Norfolk, her home.
