Carol Sue Lewis
<p>Carol Sue Lewis, 64, of Vandalia Illinois passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her beloved family on March 4, 2021.</p> <p>Carol was born on December 20, 1956 in Vandalia, Illinois. She was the daughter of John Ober and Mary (Johnson) Jones and Larry and Juna Jones. Carol married Brian Lewis on August 26, 2006. She was the beloved mother of Tom, Jade, Jasmine, and Dylan. Carol was the stepmother to Cedeste and Caleb. In her younger years she worked as a barber at Bud’s Barber Shop. She also worked as an optometric technician for several years and most recently a pharmacy technician. Carol was the very proud “Nana” of Anna, Aliah, Carson, Collin, Cameron, Huntlee, and Grayson (on the way). Carol loved her family more than anything. She was a friend to many and she will be deeply missed.</p> <p>Carol is survived by husband Brian Lewis; children Tom and Julie DePaolo of Vandalia, IL; Jade Sessions and Shawn Hayes of Chula Vista, CA; Jasmine and Nick Holstein of Vandalia, IL; Dylan and Josie Sessions of San Antonio, TX; stepdaughter Cedeste Lewis of Prairieville, LA; daughter-in-law Melissa Lewis of Vandalia, IL; grandchildren Anna, Aliah, Carson, Collin, Cameron, Huntlee, and Grayson (on the way); parents Larry and Juna Jones; siblings Vicky and Mike Diveley of Vandalia, IL; Cathy and Gene Rusnak of Spokane, WA; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and her beloved dog Steve.</p> <p>Carol was preceded in death by parents John Ober and Mary Jones, stepson Caleb Lewis, several aunts, uncles and cousins.</p> <p>Per Carol’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Miller Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Tuesday March 9, 2021 at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia Illinois, with Pastor Pete LeDuc officiating. Family and friends may gather at 10:00am.
