Obituary
Eva D. McCullough was born on January 31st,
1939 in Chester County, South Carolina. She was
preceded in death by her parents: Will B. &
Nannie M. McCullough; four brothers: Thomas,
Roosevelt, Billy, and Larry McCullough; and
three sisters: Dorothy McCullough, Dorothy
Curry, and Oralee Barber.
She attended and graduated from Elizabeth
Heights High School in Great Falls, S.C.
Thereafter, she attended and graduated from
Essex County Community College in Newark,
NJ. She was also a member of Queen of Sheba
Order of Eastern Star in Newark NJ. She was a
faithful and supportive member of Mt. Pleasant
Missionary Baptist Church for over fifty years.
Very active in her church, she was a Sunday
school teacher, E. J Chorus choir member, Usher
Board member, and missionary worker. She also
attended and graduated from Eastern Bible
Institute in Irvington, NJ, where she received a
Bachelor of Theology degree. She was a Prayer
Warrior & Street Minister.
Affectionately known as Ms. Eva, she was very
active in the city and community that she lived in.
She was a district leader in the Central Ward of
Newark, NJ and worked on election polls for
many, many years. For thirty-one years, she was a
para-professional/substitute teacher with the
Newark Public Schools. She also worked for the
City of Newark’s Dept. of Recreation for many
years as well.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons:
Wallace “Wali” McCullough and Tarikh Bandele
(formerly Tyrone McCullough) and one daughter:
Keisha McCullough-Owens (Tydell Owens);
eleven grandchildren: Ratiyah Treadwell, Latoya
Johnson, Jamara Johnson, Ry-Eisha Treadwell,
Tydell Owens, Jr., Salimah McCullough, Tyler
Owens, Al-Malik McCullough, Ky-Airah Owens,
Ky-Shawn Owens and Taylor Owens; seven greatgrandchildren:
Jashir Treadwell, Josiah Singleton,
Sarai Blanding, Mari Singleton, Messiah
Singleton, Ryhmir Treadwell-Pender & Rykhim
Treadwell-Pender. She also leaves behind one
brother: James McCullough (Laura McCullough)
of Charlotte, N.C. and three sisters: Willetta
Thompson, Mattie B. Little, both of Charlotte,
N.C. and Brenda McDow (Willie McDow) of Ft.
Lawn, S.C., a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and
friends, as well as her loving God daughter
Michelle Davis, spiritual daughters Minister
Marcella Odom-Thomas and Hernetta Odom and
her spiritual grandson Jeremiah H. Odom.
