Abraham Albert Granger Obituary

"Abe" Abraham Granger passed away on February 28, 2021. He was born on August 28, 2001. He is survived by his mother Sarah Ebner of Charlottesville and his father Douglas Granger and his wife Sarah Canady, of Crozet. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his three siblings: Annabel Granger, "Oak" Granger, and Abigail Granger. He is also survived by his grandparents Victor and Grace Granger, and Drake Ebner and Sally Slattery. Abraham Granger was, in many ways, the best of all of us. On the palette of life Abe had many colors to paint the world with, and he used them with enthusiasm. He was creative, funny, good looking, and an amazing friend. He had a deep sense of idealism, valuing authenticity above all. He will be missed. From the time he was very young he was seen by all as highly energized and creative, willing to take risks to find the adventure he was seeking. He enjoyed dressing up in all sorts of costumes, which later in his life resulted in a style many others wished they could pull off. He had a strong imagination, was quick with a joke, and a radar for bullshit. Abe’s spirit was mercurial. He was independent, creative, sensitive, and adamant about what he believed was right. He was always striving to reach that unique vision and mission that was so clear to him and so difficult to meet. He would speak with great passion and conviction on topics ranging from Donald Trump to spaghetti and milk (he loved spaghetti and milk). He felt compelled by what he believed was right in his heart, and his emotional honesty and integrity would not allow him to shift his opinions easily. One of the things Abe found most important was creating genuine, deep connections with the people he loved. Abe’s thoughtfulness and imagination gave him a knack for seeing beyond outward appearances in order to understand others’ deeper natures. He had a sixth-sense for understanding what was motivating other people, often before they knew it themselves. Abe loved to have fun, and was good company when you needed a friend. Abe also valued being alone with others in a quiet room, watching re-runs of The Office or listening to music on Spotify. All of this made Abe compelling and inspiring to be around. A public service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday March 6, 2021 at The Point Church of Charlottesville at 155 Hansen Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22911. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Abe's honor to Abundant Life Ministries of Charlottesville at https://charlottesvilleabundantlife.org/give/. For those unable to attend, the service will be streamed and can be viewed using the following link: thepointva.com/abegrangermemorial
