MCFARLAND/MADISON - Charlotte Grace Edwards passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 18, 1920, in Madison, the daughter of Charles and Gaea (Holtan) Kittleson of Sun Prairie. Charlotte was a graduate of Sun Prairie High School and Madison Business College. She married Robert "Bob" Edwards on April 3, 1943, at Burke Lutheran Church, where she was baptized and confirmed. They celebrated nearly 73 years of marriage before Bob's death on March 4, 2016. Charlotte worked as a legal secretary during World War II. After raising her children, she served as church secretary and parish worker at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of Our Saviour's. Charlotte was a founding member of the Ruth Guild, a member of the Women's Aid Society and Bethany Auxiliary. She served in many capacities for the Missionary Society because of her abiding faith in Jesus and belief in spreading the Word. Charlotte loved entertaining family and friends, gardening, playing bridge and traveling in the U.S. and abroad with special trips to Uruguay, Norway, and Israel. She had a passion for her Norwegian heritage and genealogical research. She wrote many stories about her childhood on the farm during the Depression. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brothers, Earl and Irving. She is survived by her sister, Audrey Krebs; her son, Ronald Sr. of Madison; daughters, Cheryl Heiliger of McFarland and Gayl (Al) Johnson of Rothschild; grandchildren, Donald (Shannon) Heiliger of Brooklyn N.Y., Ronald (Crystal) Edwards Jr. of Monona, Beth (Mark) Edwards of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Chris (Heidi) Edwards of Middleton, Daniel (Tarah) Heiliger of Madison and David (Christina) Heiliger of Madison; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be held at OUR SAVIOUR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1201 Droster Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 6, 2021, with the Rev. Cory Hahnke and the Rev. Eugene Kock presiding. Friends and family may view her service via livestream at www.gundersonfh.com. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Memorials may be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church or to the Robert and Charlotte Edwards Scholarship at Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, Minn.
