Frank Gomes Obituary

Frank Gomes, 86, of Dracut, MA, died after a brief illness on February 25, 2021 at Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH. He was born August 17,1934, in Madeira, Portugal, the son of Francisco deSousa and Carolina (Vieira deSousa) Gomes. Frank graduated from Dracut High School where he played football and baseball. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. reserves and U.S. Navy. He was married to Joyce E. (Conte) Gomes on December 3, 1961. Frank was retired, but early on he worked as a milkman for Hood and most recently, a custodian at MIT, Lincoln Labs, Lexington, MA. Frank was an avid sports fan who enjoyed sports of all types. He specifically enjoyed following the Boston/NE teams (especially the Red Sox & Patriots!) Frank also enjoyed gardening and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Joyce E. (Conte) Gomes and his grandchildren, Aaron and Amanda Cravatis. Frank is survived by his daughter, Teri (Gomes) Cravatis and her husband, Kevin, of Danvers, MA, his son, Stephen Gomes and his wife Jacqueline, of Dracut, MA, and his daughter, Nancy (Gomes) Seaborne and her husband Raymond of Londonderry, NH., his 6 grandchildren; Christopher Seaborne and his wife, Alison, of San Francisco, CA, Sara Seaborne of Pembroke, NH, Jennifer and Jillian Gomes of Dracut, MA, and Michael and Ty Cravatis of Danvers, MA, one brother, Joseph Gomes and his wife, Pat, of Pelham, NH, 3 sisters; Mary Bradbury, Helen Gauthier and Donna Gomes of Dracut, MA, along with several nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance and military honors will be held for Frank on Monday at 10 o’clock in the Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel, 302 Elm St. Everett. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Privately, following the service, Frank will be placed along side his wife in the Laurel Room in the lower level of the chapel. Social distancing measures will be in place and facemasks are kindly required. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Frank in a special way may make gifts in memory of his wife Joyce to the American Lung Association 55 W. Whacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago IL 60601.
