Alvin Ray Chiles

Deacon Alvin Ray Chiles, 71, of Mauldin, South Carolina, passed March 2, 2021, at Prisma Health. He was a son of the late James and Nannie McCullough Chiles. Surviving: his wife, Linda Chiles of the home; two daughters, Kilolo Chiles and Teneka (Carlondo) Brown both of Greenville, SC; two sisters, Carolyn Dogan of Piedmont, SC and Amelia (Thurmond) Hosey of Goldsboro, NC; two brothers, Father Richard Chiles of Depere, WI and David Chiles of Detroit, MI; his father-in-law, Elbert Todd, Sr.; two granddaughters, Sandra Brown and Brooklynn Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends. Wow, I was thinking about Mr. Al just tge other week as I made mention of him being my mentor when I graduated from Graduate School in December 1994. I wanted to work for Greenville County Alcohol and Drug Abuse. He was my voice of strategy, reason and wisdom.

God in His great wisdom sent me a cousin, an example of Jesus Christ. I grew up watching him in church and in the neighborhood. He was a gift that only God could give, and I thank Our Father for this gift that keeps on giving.
