Kelva Cee Blocker Johnson Obituary

Kelva Cee Blocker Johnson, 88, of Hot Springs, went to be with the Lord on March 1, 2021. She was born on November 18, 1932 in Cedar Glades, AR. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Oakes M. and Hettie Blocker; her sister and brother-in-law, Clara Bee and Pat Anderson; her brother-in-law, Fermon Bates; and by the love of her life, James E. Johnson to whom she was married for 55 years. Kelva’s family was her life. She is survived by her son, Mark Johnson, of Little Rock; daughters, Joy Tucker (John), of Hot Springs and Julie King (Chip), of Little Rock; granddaughter, Macy Johnson, of Little Rock; grandsons, Andrew Tucker, of Hot Springs, and Hunter King of Little Rock; sister, Silma Bates of Hot Springs; niece Melody (Tommy) Green; nephews Jim (Shelly), Doug (Stacy), and Johnny (Nancy) Anderson; and a host of friends. To her family and friends, Kelva leaves an inheritance of love for Jesus and for each other. Kelva’s first job was with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. as Operator. She began her banking career at First Federal Savings Bank, then moved to Landmark Savings Bank. She was a wonderful hostess who loved to cook for family and friends. With her servant heart, she always visited the sick, bringing them food. Kelva loved traveling with her family and teaching her kids and grandkids. She was especially proud that she taught her grandson Andrew his states before he was 4 years old. Kelva was a charter member of The Old Country Church where her husband was Pastor for many years. She was a devoted wife and mother and loved being a pastor’s wife. Blessed with wonderful talent, she played the piano in church for 74 years. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rob Young, John and Andrew Tucker, and Chip King officiating. Burial will follow at New Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Pallbearers are Andrew Tucker, Tommy and Brady Green, and Johnny, JP, and Mitchell Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. William Cole and Arkansas Hospice.
