Ronnie Si-Wah Chan St. Catharines, Ontario Obituary

Ronnie Si-Wah Chan

Dr. Ronnie Chan It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Ronnie Chan on February 21st, 2021, at the age of 44. Ron was an incredibly gifted yet humble medical professional. He completed his medical degree at the University of Toronto in 2003. He subsequently trained in Internal Medicine at McMaster University and Gastroenterology at Queen’s University. He was in active practice at the St. Catharines General Site of Niagara Health where he was well respected by his colleagues for his hard work and devotion to his patients. He is survived by his parents, Henry and Polly Chan; his brother Terry, sister-in-law Karyn and niece Ophelia; as well as many other extended family members throughout Canada, the United States and Hong Kong. His niece Ophelia will miss seeing her uncle Ron in the audience at her dance competitions. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family is greatly appreciative for the overwhelming outpouring of support from family and friends near and far, and especially from colleagues at Niagara Health. To honour Ron’s passion for academics and medicine, a scholarship has been established. The Dr. Ron Chan Memorial Award will be awarded annually to a student at the Niagara Regional Campus of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, McMaster University, who shows an interest in pursuing a career in psychiatry or mental health. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to the Dr. Ron Chan Memorial Award at McMaster University by clicking here. Thank you for expressing your sympathy in such a meaningful manner.

I am deeply grieved. Please accept my deepest condolences Terence Chan, your parents, and family for your significant loss.
He has left us at too young an age but will be remembered fondly for all that he accomplished in such a short life.
A beautiful and fitting tribute...
