Obituary

Mary Jane (Kucera) Enz, 59, died from a non-smokers lung cancer on February 26, 2021. Mary was the youngest of three siblings. She grew up in Roseville, attended Mounds View High School and earned a degree from the University of Wisconsin Stout, where she met her husband Dick.

Mary was a generous and thoughtful woman. She gave her time and attention to other people’s needs whether or not it was convenient or easy. Mary was a woman of faith, serving her church, including  singing in the choir.

Family and friends were everything to Mary. Besides her son Peter, she was a much-loved aunt to her nieces and nephews, and an extra grandma to her great nieces and nephews. She was her nephew Kevin’s godmother, a role she performed faithfully.

Even with an 8-year age difference, Mary and her sister Ann became best friends, spending many memorable times scrapbooking, quilting, traveling, and biking, among other things.

Mary raised funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society for nearly 30 years via its annual bicycle fundraiser rides. Mary had been a perennial team captain and among the top event fundraisers every year. She even raised funds and rode The Ride Across Minnesota while battling cancer the last three summers.

Mary is survived by her husband of 37 years, Dick, son Peter, siblings Ann (Lowell) Palecek, Jim (Lavonne) Kucera, her beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many close cousins and friends.

Life is hard with Mary gone. We long to see her again in heaven.
