William (Bill) Jessie West Obituary

William (Bill) Jessie West 84, died Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 10:15 am at Magnolia Place Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in Rogers, AR following a long struggle with dementia. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Georgia (Stevens) West, and their three children: Diana Reynolds of Bentonville, AR; Stuart West and wife Cindy of Rogersville, MO; and Brenda Keene and husband Vernon of Jane, MO. Bill is also survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Jeremy West of Abilene, TX, Amy (Reynolds) Warren, husband Randy, and their daughters Annabelle and Madeleine of Rogers, AR; Megan (Reynolds) Beadle, husband David and their daughter Ava of Austin TX; Jessica (West) Wilson, husband Jason, and their children Karlie and Lane of Ewa Beach, HI; and Kent Keene and wife Rachel of Kansas City, MO. Bill is also survived by his sister Wilma (West) Connors and husband Chuck of Roanoke, VA and his brother Wayne West and wife Sharon of Parish, FL, as well as many other family members and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence West and Josephine (Mays) West, infant daughter Linda Jean West, and sister Beatrice Cox. Bill was raised in the bootheel of Missouri near Poplar Bluff. Upon graduating from high school in 1954, he joined the United States Army and spent more than 20 years serving his country. Bill married Georgia Stevens on January 2, 1957 following a whirlwind romance. That romance lasted 64 years, until death they did part. During Bill’s military career, he was awarded numerous ribbons and medals, including the Bronze Star. Bill spent two overseas tours of duty in Thailand and Vietnam. As part of his military service, the family lived in several different states, as well as Germany and France. In 1974, Bill and his family retired to the beautiful Missouri Ozarks on an 80-acre farm in Anderson, MO where they built their dream house and he began his second career carrying mail. Upon retiring from the USPS, Bill and Georgia moved around in the four-state area and spent several years using their building skills to flip multiple houses in Bella Vista, AR. In his final years, Bill rapidly declined due to debilitating dementia.
