Catherine Violet Jacobs St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador Obituary

Catherine Violet Jacobs

Catherine Violet Jacobs, 52 years old. Catherine passed away with the exemplary care of the St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital staff on Sunday, February 28th, at 12:15 AM due to complications from liver disease. While it was sudden, and largely unexpected at this time, it was peaceful, and merciful. She is predeceased by her father Geoffrey Jacobs (2003), her aunts Helen Purcell (1986) Mary Whitten (2001), and Lucy Clarke (2012), her cousin Elizabeth Whitten (2001), her best friend and soulmate Beverly Bishop (2013), uncle Doug Clarke (2021). Leaving behind to mourn and celebrate her life is: Mother Cathy; Son Andrew; Sister Bev; Brother In-law Lawrence; Nephew Daniel; Niece Esther, Uncles Johnny, Tommy, Bryan; Aunts Mary, Helen, Cathy, Sandra, and Edna; a large number of cousins who loved her very much, adopted family members Ian (Mcdonald), Ian (Estey), Danielle, Glyn, Jason, Kyle, Sylvia, Peter. She also leaves behind a number of close friends; Martin; Chickie, Monica, Mike (Barrington), Mike (Giroud), Thomas, Jordan, Kimberly, Margaret, Adam, and Tamar. Although she struggled with her health over the last several years, she always had hope that things would be better, and gave up so much to be there for her son Andrew. Catherine loved to play board games of all types, and though we may never play anything together again, she is gone somewhere her health no longer causes her grief. Cathy and Andrew would like to extend their gratitude to the entire staff of the St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, especially those in the Intensive Care Unit who did their absolute best to make her comfortable in her final hours, and succeeded in helping them through this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations to Heavenly Creatures NL, an animal rescue that was close to Catherine’s heart, or any other animal care/adoption services. This was a cause that she did her best to support for the last couple of decades, and it always brought her happiness to be able to make a difference in an animal’s life.
