Jay Paul Meharg Obituary

Jay Meharg 52, of Toledo, Ohio. Formerly of Yale and Monroe, Michigan passed away Friday morning at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. He was born in Yale, the son of Allan and Delores (Mabbitt) Meharg. Jay was many things; a son, a father, an uncle, a friend to many… But the best role he played was being Papa (grandpa.) Jay had a dream to follow in his fathers footsteps and has been employed by the Local #17 for the last 30 years. He first became a tree trimmer for the company, then ended up becoming a Journeyman Lineman just as his father was. He was a man of many talents and loved to work his hands. One of his favorite things to do in his off time was wrenching on cars. He also loved to go boating, fishing, hunting and even cooking! He was great at cooking and would even do cook-offs with his cousin/bestfriend and partner-in-crime James. He loved every part of being a papa and enjoying time with his grandchildren, taking them on the boat and teaching them to fish. He loved watching them grow and admired how fast they learned, and loved to sneak them cookies. Surviving are; his partner Kara Brown and her daughter, Laura of Toledo; His Sons, Daniel Meharg of Warren and Denis (Ashleigh) of Monroe; grandchildren Aiden and Charliee; his mother, Delores (Harold) Sullins of Vegas; his father Allan (Ruth) Meharg of Burtchville; sisters, Jodi Meharg and Sara (Heathe) Goad; brothers, Jerry (Ann) and Jeffery (Heather) Meharg; nieces and nephews (who Uncle Jay loved very much) Shaelynn, Stephanie, Melinda, Madison, Zackary, Christopher, Scott, Jordan, Dave, Corey, Tristian and Mason; Aunts, Trudy (Ray) Sullivan, Cindy (Larry) Hubbard, Sandra Meharg, Carol Eshker, Joyce (Arine) Collins, and Karen Meharg as well as many other cousins, co-workers and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his cousin/bestfriend James Meharg (2021); grandparents, Leonard and Audrey Meharg and Paul and Zita Mabbitt; Aunt Nancy Gottshcalk and Uncle Denis Meharg. The family honors Jay and invites you to visit and share memories, there will be two memorial services to gather at. A memorial visitation this Sunday February 28th from 2-7p.m. at David R. Jasin Hoening Funeral Home in Toledo, Ohio with a service at 7 p.m. The second Memorial service will be next Saturday, March 6th from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Yale, Michigan at Cole United Methodist Church in Yale Michigan.
