Kenneth J. Bradeen

<p>Kenneth J. Bradeen, aged 99, died at South Shore Hospital on February 27, 2021 after a short illness. He was the son of Everett Bradeen and Rena (Holt) Bradeen. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 75 years, Beulah E. Bradeen, in 2017; and his two sisters, Doris Lavery and Babe Jackson.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>He is survived by his son, John K Bradeen (Lyn) of Hingham, MA; his daughter, Judith E. Rosensteel (John) of Greensboro, GA; and his daughter, Janet B. Moe (Doug) of The Villages, FL.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>He was a Grandfather and GreatGrandfather to Julie Horte (Bill) and her children, Olivia, Max &amp; Andrew of Norwell, MA; Jennifer Lambiase (Al) and her children, John and Anna of Canton, MA; Jessica Stevens (Paul), and her children, Nathan, Ella and Molly of Norwell, MA; Ellen Calves (Herbie) and her children, Emma, Evan &amp; Nina of Katonah, NY; Amy Hannula (Chad) and her children Charlie and Lucy of Atlanta, GA; Lisa Zahren (Homer Robinson) and her children Theo &amp; Felix of Philadelphia, PA.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>He had a special place in his heart for Niece Debbie Jackson, Scituate, MA; devoted family friend, Sue Jevne, Norwell, MA; and The Rev. Stephanie Shute Kelsch, Second Parish UU church of Hingham, MA.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Ken started his career as a Ship Fitter at the Fore River Shipyard. During WWII, he served his country in Scotland, repairing and refitting ships. Once home from the war, Ken and Beulah moved to Norwell, where Ken was Chief of Police for 25 years. Ken loved the ocean and boating. He built his first sailboat, with the help of his mother sewing the sails, when he was a teen. He went on to enjoy several powerboats and sailboats from a mooring in Scituate Harbor, cruising from Scituate Harbor to Maine, New Hampshire, Cape Cod, Martha&rsquo;s Vineyard and Nantucket.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>He played his guitar in the local Norwell dance band for over 20 years.&nbsp; Ken enjoyed hobbies including woodworking, amateur radio, creative writing, theatre production, traveling and pie making.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Upon retirement, Ken and Beulah cruised the Intracoastal Waterway from Scituate Harbor to Florida and over to the Bahamas. They traveled throughout the U.S. including Alaska &amp; Hawaii, and to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, &amp; Canada. They settled in Florida for 27 years before returning to Linden Ponds, Hingham, Massachusetts to be closer to their family. Ken was proud of the two books of short stories he published in his mid-90&rsquo;s.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, a donation in Ken&rsquo;s name may be sent to the Norwell VNA, 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061. No calling hours are planned. Services will be announced at a later date.&nbsp;</p>
