Scott D. Banks Obituary

Scott Dennis Banks, Annapolis MD, passed away on February 27, 2021 after a short but tenacious battle with brain cancer. Scott was born in Oxnard CA to Dennis and Claudia Banks on April 1, 1969. Scott was a 1991 graduate from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. After Undergraduate Pilot Training at Vance Air Force Base, Enid OK, he flew the C-141 at McGuire Air Force Base, NJ. Upon separation from the Air Force, Scott pursued his career as commercial airline pilot, most recently with United Airlines. Scott will be remembered by those closest to him as a diehard fan of the NY Yankees and Rangers with a dry sense of humor, quick wit, and an engaging zest for life. Scott loved to fly and play hockey. His contribution as a Coach to local youth hockey and baseball players left a lasting, positive impact upon his community. His real passion was his family. Married 17 years, Scott and his wife, Katie Dunn, raised two beautiful sons. Scott is survived by his wife Katie, sons, Jimmy (17) and Joey (15) of Archbishop Spalding High School, his parents Dennis and Claudia Banks of Southport, NC and brother Jeff (Roxanne) Banks, of Alexandria, VA. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Scott's life on Saturday, March 6 at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road. Edgewater from 1pm until his funeral service begins at 2pm. Scott's ashes will be interred with military honors at the Air Force Academy at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to Archbishop Spalding Hockey Team. Please feel free to offer online condolences using the Memory Wall tab above.
