<p>Joseph L. Brindisi, 100, passed away peacefully in Myrtle Beach, SC on February 27, 2021. Born in Utica, NY on August 1,1920. He was the oldest of five children to the late Rocco and Mary (Corabi) Brindisi.</p> <p>Joe graduated from Hamilton High School in Hamilton, NY, where he lettered in football, basketball, and golf. He was elected president of his high school student council and was active in student activities. He graduated from Utica School of Commerce, Utica, NY, and from the University of Portland, Portland, Oregon in 1949.</p> <p>He was a veteran of World War II, and served duty in Guam, Iwo Jima and Philippines and was honorable discharged from the US Army Engineers with the rank of Captain in 1943.</p> <p>Joe was preceded in death by his lovely and devoted wife, Sherley of 62 years along with his parents Mary and Rocco Brindisi, sister Janet Witter, brother in law Bruce Witter, sister Arlene Munson and brother in law Robert Munson, and brother in law Gerald Gilberti.</p> <p>He was a dedicated, loving, and devoted father leaving behind his daughters Patsy Brindisi and son Garrett of Murrell&rsquo;s Inlet, SC, Nancy Brindisi, her children Ashley and John Martin, and great-granddaughters Livi and Aria of Warwick, RI, sons Lawrence Brindisi and wife Peggy, granddaughters Jennifer and Julia of Haddonfield, NJ, and Joseph Brindisi Jr. and wife Mala, granddaughter Mian of Atlanta, GA, sister Harriet Gilberti of Utica, NY, and his brother Rocco Brindisi of FL. He was blessed with numerous nephews and nieces.</p> <p>Joe was employed by North &amp; Judd MFG. CO. in New Britain, Conn., for over 26 years resigning as Vice President and general sales manager to accept a like position with Metalart Buckle CO. in Providence, RI. He retired in 1983 after serving as president and general manager for 12 years.</p> <p>He and his wife Sherley moved to Myrtle Beach in 1984 to enjoy the weather, beach, golf, and the casual lifestyle. He was a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church having served as a minister of the Eucharist for many years. He was an active member of the Myrtle Wood Golf Club for over 35 years. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow members and friends. He was a past member of Angus Lea Gold Club in Hillsboro, NH as a summer resident.</p> <p>He, Sherley, and family were long time summer residents in Stoddard, NH, enjoying their time with family and friends.</p> <p>A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, March 4, 2021 at St. Andrew Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. Joseph L. Brindisi, 100, passed away peacefully in Myrtle Beach, SC on February 27, 2021. Born in Utica, NY on August 1,1920. He was the oldest of five children to the late Rocco and Mary (Corabi) Brindisi.
