Daniel Paul Buckley left his family and our mortal realm on February 1, 2021. Daniel was the first born of Tom and Lesa Buckley on January 13th, 1979 and a descendant of Joe L. Brown, an original Chickasaw tribe enrollee. He is remembered by his parents, his grandmothers Phyllis and Bobbi, his sister Emily, his three younger brothers Seth, Benjamin, and Nathan, his one niece, nine nephews, a multitude of cousins, aunts, and uncles, and the many people whose lives he touched. Daniel was born with many talents. He was always the smartest and most athletic kid in his school. His drawing skills could keep up with any tattoo artist, he was pretty good looking (at least when he was younger) and he’d never admit it, but he even played the cello with skill for some time. He was a great friend to children and could engage and cheer up even the most upset or shy ones. Everybody knew that when uncle Danny was coming over, it meant fun. He was always quick to laugh and his playful nature made him endearing to all. Daniel was a man of few possessions, and instead measured his success in adventures, or even misadventures. He had very little experience with driving cars and instead skipped ahead to driving semi-trucks. He absolutely loved trucking and took pride in his work and satisfaction in knowing it was a vital and respectable job. It enabled him to get out and see the country. He loved to hunt and fish. I think he planned some of his truck routes based on whether there was a fishing hole nearby. He never had a bad day on the water and not even sharks were safe from him. In the past two years he was able to make most of his life goals come true. He attended concerts, saw the entire country, dabbled in marriage, met his niece and nephews, and even managed to survive getting lost in Tijuana. He was a very proud of his Chickasaw heritage and grateful for all the help and assistance the Nation afforded him throughout the years. Daniel was and is deeply loved and will be sorely missed. He hasn’t always been easy, but he was worth it. We take comfort in knowing that he is no longer hurting or in pain. As much as we love him, we know that God’s love is even greater, and there is no better place that he could be. We know we will see him again someday.
